I would like to open a quilt shop in Lamoni. Several years ago Lamoni was known as Iowa's Quilt City. For the past thirty years Lamoni has had a quilt shop. We have been without one for the past two years. The closest place to buy good fabric is Creston or Des Moines.
My dream would be to find an appropriate building in Lamoni that could be used as a quilting center. The center would house fabric and notions. I would like to offer multigenerational classes for beginning through expert quilters. Students from Graceland University and local public schools, grandmothers/fathers, moms/dads, Amish and "English" would be welcomed as teachers or learners.
My plan is to partner with Joyce Franklin of Quilts and Other Notions in Creston for fabrics and other quilting supplies to help defray some of the opening costs.
